"Balancing"
Alexandr Prytula
Sculpture
144x30x30
Created in 2018. Polymers, exterior painting.
I took my twin brothers as the basis for the characters of the sculpture “Balancing”. As a child, watching how they walk hand-in-hand through life and support each other, I began to notice that sometimes this becomes the cause of many quarrels between them. Whatever the relationship between people in the world, it is always important to find your own personal balance.
The central fragment of the sculpture is made of transparent resin. I associate this element with glass, where an incorrectly set balance line could cause a feeling of fragility. However, if you walk around the sculpture, you can see that the complex pose of the acrobatic heroes is built harmoniously and balanced enough that the feeling of instability fades.
